Associate of Applied Science in Software Engineering

Objective

The objective of this program is to train individuals in proven methods for developing and maintaining software applications and data systems. Upon graduation, students will receive the degree Associate of Applied Science in Software Engineering.

Graduates of this program will qualify for entry-level technical and managerial positions in many industries, including software maintenance and development, software systems engineering, database administration, and Web development.

Length of Program

The program typically takes two years consisting of six semesters, each including two 8–week terms. The minimum time to complete the program is 24 months (96 weeks, 8 break weeks). Students must complete a minimum of 65.5 credit hours. The complete program consists of approximately 1155 hours, which is comprised of 810 hours of theory and 345 hours of laboratory.

Requirements

The requirements to enter into this program are, at a minimum, a high school diploma or General Education Development (GED) certificate and a passing grade of 70% on the entrance examination.
